This is a video of a drive through the remnants of forests managed by the Salem (Oregon) District of the Bureau of Land Management and private property managed by the Weyerhaeuser Company. The scenery along this drive on the Blackrock Mainline has changed dramatically since Willamette Industries property was taken over by Weyerhaeuser Company several years ago. Modern logging methods have made it possible for a few people to do the jobs that required years of backbreaking labor by thousands of workers. This is indicative of the forested areas of North America where never have so many acres of forest been stripped of trees in such a short period of time except due to fire or other natural cataclysmic event. Weyerhaueser is "Sustainable Forest Initiative" certified. The remnants of the forest are publicly owned and not accessible to the public except during deer and elk season due to Weyerhaueser Company policy.
